Programme description

The new continuing education programme CAS ETH ReMain (in Repair and Maintenance) at ETH Zurich focuses on the scalable repair and maintenance strategies for buildings and their components as well as economic concepts of value preservation. By means of a model repair project, participants will analyse and develop different approaches. The project work is supplemented by a transdisciplinary range of input lectures and workshops.


Objectives

The aim of this programme is to equip participants with the skills to identify problems and potentials related to repairability, to develop appropriate sustainable solutions and to communicate these effectively to other stakeholders. Their contribution extends the life of existing buildings and their parts and reduces the demand for new resources and materials.


Professional perspectives

By completing the CAS programme, graduates will be qualified for positions in the field of sustainable development in relevant companies and public institutions. They also play a key role in negotiating sustainable changes in the construction industry.


Structure and format

The CAS is a part-time course during Spring Semester. In groups, students develop repair and maintenance strategies for an exemplary project. Weekly lectures and excursions complement the project work.
